Is there a clear bag policy in place?
Clear bags are not required for this year’s event.  We will be implementing a clear bag policy for the safety and security of all attendees in 2025.

Why are clear bags encouraged?
While clear bags are not mandatory this year, we are encouraging their use as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security at our events. By encouraging attendees to bring clear bags now, we hope to familiarize everyone with the process and prepare for any potential changes in the future.

What does a clear bag policy entail?
The clear bag policy requires attendees to use transparent bags for carrying their belongings into the venue. This allows for quick and efficient security checks and enhances safety measures.

What if I bring items that won’t fit in a clear bag?
If you have items that cannot fit into a clear bag, such as coolers or larger personal belongings, they may be subject to inspection by our staff or security personnel upon entry. No BBQs are allowed in venue.

How can I prepare for the clear bag policy?
Specific guidelines of the clear bag policy for future events will be available soon.

  • The front entrance on Water Ave is the “main entrance” into the venue.
  • There is an entrance behind the Riverfront Community Center along the Dave Clark Path.
  • There is an entrance off of Calapooia Street

Outside food, beer, wine, and cider are permitted in concert venue. Hard alcohol is never permitted. We do not have food vendors on-site but there are a variety of downtown restaurants open before the concert.

  • Concerts are funded by sponsors, revenue generated from Parks & Recreation programs, and donations by attendees.
  • The majority of support for our concerts comes from our sponsors. They give cash and in-kind services that allows these concerts happen. They are amazing and we are endlessly grateful for their support.
  • We also use revenue we create from paid classes and programs to subsidize events and programs, such as these concerts, that are offered for free to the community.
  • Lastly, the donations that you contribute at the concerts are reinvested in the concerts! We appreciate the community’s generosity. We have seen a steady, ongoing decline in donations. On a great night, donations average $0.25 per person. On a typical night it is around $0.15 a person. We understand not everyone can give but appreciate those who do.
  • Your property tax dollars do not directly fund these concerts. For every dollar you pay in property tax, the City receives $0.37. Albany Parks & Recreation only receives about $0.06 of that amount. That amount typically goes towards park maintenance and keeping basic services going. We are considered a “special fund” which means we must create our own revenue to stay a viable department.
  • We are thankful to our sponsors, paid program participants, and those who donate in whatever capacity they can afford.
  • Parking is FREE for Summer Sounds Concert Series
  • ADA accessible parking is available in the main park parking lot of the park.
  • General parking is available in various places downtown as well as the parking lot located on Water Avenue directly behind the Riverfront Community Center
  • We do not have a trolley or shuttles available at Summer Sounds.

How are performers selected?
We select performers based on criteria such as price, availability, routing, and genre without influence from personal viewpoints.

  • Pets of any kind (except for guide/service dogs) are not allowed in the park on concert days.
  • See Oregon Service Dog Guidelines for more information.

Chairs and blankets are allowed to be placed in the park after 7 a.m. on concert days.

  • Place your belongings at your own risk. Staff will not be on site to regulate chair and blanket placement in the early morning.
  • Please do not place items in fire lanes or places that are blocked off. If your items are placed in those areas, Albany Parks & Recreation will move the items to the closest available spot near your placement.
  • Albany Parks & Recreation is not responsible for items that have been moved or lost.
  • Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • There is no blanket area only seating.
  • No tarps allowed.
  • Standard height chairs are allowed.

Smoking or vaping of any kind is not permitted inside the concert venue or within 10 feet of entrances. Smoking marijuana in public is illegal in the State of Oregon.

We strongly encourage a $1 per person donation to be paid at the gate to help support the festival in future years, but there are no tickets required at this event. We can take Visa or Mastercard but prefer cash or check.
