Albany Parks & Recreation offers a discount card to those who live outside the Albany city limits that allows them to participate in Parks & Recreation activities at the same price as a resident of Albany for a 12-month period. Non-resident prices are generally 33% higher than those of Albany residents who pay a portion of their property taxes to the City. For regular users who live outside the city limits, but who regularly like to enjoy Albany Parks & Recreation classes, trips, and aquatics programs, this card can be a substantial savings.
The cost of the card is $40 for individuals and $80 for families of 4. It is active for a 12-month period from date of purchase.
Cards may be purchased:
- In-person with cash, credit card, or check at Parks & Recreation (333 Broadalbin St SW, 1st floor) or at the Riverfront Community Center (489 Water Ave NW),
- By phone with a credit card: 541-917-7777
With over 30 parks, nearly 900 acres of green space, five trails and countless amenities; there are many opportunities for individuals, groups, or businesses to help keep our parks beautiful, clean, and safe.
Upcoming and Past Events
Adopt-A-Park
Individuals, families, groups, churches or businesses can adopt one of Albany’s 36 parks, trails, or natural areas. Some adopters simply walk their parks and report any problems or needs they find. Others pick up litter as they walk, or report graffiti or other problems. Others enjoy occasional weeding, planting or cleaning up brush. All this while enjoying Albany’s lovely outdoors. Its the easiest volunteer work you will ever have fun doing.
Graffiti Chasers
Volunteer chasers go out as a group to paint over tagging in our parks as it appears. Vandalism of any kind is costly and in many cases, inappropriate and unsightly. Responding quickly helps discourage repeat taggers and helps others take pride in our community's natural beauty.
The Diggers
Our newest group. This group goes out with the City Forester and digs the holes needed to plant more trees for the City. It doesn't take long and allows City staff to get more trees into the ground.
Special Park Clean-Up Events
For larger projects, Special Events can be requested by an area’s adopter. Volunteers enjoy a few hours outdoors while helping with larger projects such as cleanups, trail widening, opening up overgrown areas or clearing stream beds. Some ongoing projects include: uncovering and saving an historic orchard in North Albany and planting riparian gardens to support birds, butterflies and other habitats. Special events are generally open to anyone including families with older children. Equipment is provided by Adopt A Park. Volunteers should wear water resistant shoes and bring their favorite gloves.
Events are usually about three hours, weekends or weekdays.

Making improvements to your park system
Investments in our parks system from city services fee revenue
Albany Parks & Recreation receives $1.78 of the $9.00 city services fee on your utility bill. We have invested that money in facility improvements throughout our park system:
