There are several ways you can influence decisions of the City Council including:
Business from the Public
City Council meetings include an agenda item called “Business from the Public.”
During this time in the meeting, you may speak to the Council about any issue you think they should consider.
If you wish to speak, please raise your hand when the Mayor asks for Business from the Public.
Please keep your remarks brief.
Ask the Mayor or one of your Councilors to bring an item to the City Council’s attention
Ward map and contact information for the Mayor and Councilors can be found on the City Council page.
Public hearings
If you wish to speak in support or opposition at a public hearing, you must sign up beforehand on the sign-in sheet as you enter Council Chambers. Please arrive a few minutes early. When the Mayor calls your name, step to the podium, state your name and address, and begin your remarks.
Serve on a City board, commission, or committee
Council has 15 citizen advisory groups.
They recommend action to Council on topics including art, bicycle access, land use policy, trees and much more.
